With the heaviest of hearts, we must share the news:

The World River Surfing Championship 2025,
originally planned for this July,
is officially postponed to February 6, 2026.

This decision was not easy.
We fought to the very end.
We hoped. We believed.
But the circumstances proved stronger.

What happened?

1. Infrastructure limitations
One of the key technical zones of the championship cannot be commissioned in time.
Authorities have temporarily suspended the launch of new structures, citing the need for
further environmental and technical assessments following recent legal updates —
specifically, Presidential Regulation No. 122 on the reclamation of coastal areas and
small islands for shoreline construction.

2. Cable infrastructure failure
On May 2nd, 2025, a critical underwater power cable connecting Bali to Java was
damaged, leading to widespread power outages. Unfortunately, full restoration of power
supply remains uncertain. Key infrastructure — including the airport and tourist districts
— continues to experience intermittent blackouts. Repair efforts are ongoing.

3. New administrative barriers
In May, new regional regulations came into force (Governor’s Circular Letter No.
7/2025 and a proposed set of 15 regional regulations) restricting mass events in
coastal zones during peak season. This made it impossible to secure final permits for the
championship in July.

4. Our care for the athletes
Despite our passion and energy, we cannot compromise your health, your comfort, or
your experience.
We promised you a celebration, an unforgettable atmosphere, world-class organization —
and we will deliver, but only when everything is ready.

Important notice for PRO category athletes: All invited athletes who confirmed their participation in the PRO division will retain their
places and privileges automatically.
Accommodation, transfers, and registration benefits — all will remain our responsibility.
